 Description: Gary Walljasper returns to campus for this training session on performance management. New supervisors hired since December 2012 or who have not participated before should register for this session.

Part 1

Participants will learn tips, techniques and approaches to build credibility and effectiveness in the following areas:

  • Collaboratively discussing and establishing aligned goals/objectives
  • Learning the 6 key components to effective documentation
  • How to give feedback on performance and/or behavior
  • Making adjustments
  • Delivering performance reviews

  • Part 2

    Participants will learn effective coaching techniques that build confidence in preparing for interactions with others. Participants will develop their ability to pick up on emotions in other people and understand what’s really going on, and then use this awareness to manage interactions successfully. Incorporating group-based application activities, we will apply these skills using the following types of scenarios:

  • Having productive conversations when the topic is focused on success
  • Preparing for and managing through difficult conversations
